Remember that email newsletter for Kids Team I made a while ago? Well, my design got sent to the graphic design department and the final product that will go out to the parents is complete (it's the lovely picture to the right).
I think it's interesting to see what the graphic design team decided to keep from the original (like the light bulb and the spotlight idea - just with a magnifying glass instead of a spotlight).
But back to the vocabulary app for children that Kids Team has been working on since September...
It's finally been sent to the art department for prototype development!
So when the art department asked us what art style and color palette we wanted we naturally decided to include the kids. Because that's what we do in Kids Team, after all.

Okay so right to left from top to bottom: Teletubbies, Oso, Bob the Builder, Sesame Street, Magic School Bus, and Toy Story. I did recruit someone to help me on this one so if we are right I shall let them know. I like the Sesame Street (the one with the pink) color palette. It's brighter. If I wanted to go more professional I'd probably go with the Bob the Builder one (the one with the two blues) or the Toy Story one (the far left).
ReplyDeleteIn case anyone was wondering, yes, these are all the correct choices. Even the Sesame Street color palette is what KidsTeam liked the most. Bob the Builder and Toy Story's color palettes wer disliked overall.
DeleteSo Kaitlyn, can you say anything about progress with the vocabulary app? It sounds interesting! I have to admit that looking at those color samples doesn't do much for me - I don't have any particular appeal of one vs. another. I guess I am not a visual learner... sorry!
ReplyDeleteI'll say that the art department has been making a few colored pictures of what a few scenes in the prototype will look like. And that we plan to have a few kids come in and tell us what they think of these images in a few weeks. Hopely that's not too vague.
DeleteI like the top one, it seems quite vibrant! As to which TV shows...uh...I support whatever Daria said.
ReplyDeleteWise decision :)
DeleteCongratulations on getting the design published even if they did change a few thing!. I agree with Pranav on the vibrant color scheme of the top palette. Looks nice!
ReplyDeleteThe top color palette reminds me of the flimsy glasses handed out at 3D movies. I cannot almost see ET flying on the bike right at me now! I am still wondering about that pile of sticky notes. While all of the ideas cannot be as fabulous as magical spaghetti, how do you decide what ideas are usable?
ReplyDeleteHi Kaitlyn....could you please respond to my email....we need to schedule a practice presentation for the SRP committee prior to your presentation. We will have to determine a time...most are taken. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy name's Daniel from Lutheran High School in Parker, Colorado. I like the top one as others have said because of the vibrance it gives. As a future graphic design student, it's interesting to see your initial design versus what they took and ran with on the right. The right is definitely a much cleaner representation of your idea, which while it may have not been what you originally intended, that's the trend right now in graphic design--getting the idea across with minimal elements. I've enjoyed following your project and look forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteIt's interseting to hear from a future graphic design student on this, because I have no knowledge of the trends in graphic design. I agree that, in hindsight, it looks much cleaner than my version. Thank you so much for your perspective! I'm glad you've enjoyed following my project! :)
